Lockheed Martin wins $1 billion contract

The FBI has awarded Lockheed Martin a $1 billion contract to develop and maintain the Next Generation Identification system.

The biometrics system, which will expand fingerprint capacity to double the size of its current database, and feature palm print, iris, and facial recognition capabilities, will be used by state, local and federal authorities.

Commenting on the contract, Judy marks, president, Lockheed Martin Transportation and Security Solutions, said: “We were proud to collaborate with the FBI on the Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System, the largest system in the world of its type.

“We’re tremendously pleased to partner with the agency once again to deliver the next quantum leap in capability.”
